Welcome back to Wildwood Heights BACC!
Normally, in my new post system, I would have this as part of the groups that I post, but I’m testing out a new University mod that will likely affect my play. It’s Cyjon’s Semester Changes mod. I’ve also got Cyjon’s Later Classes mod to help as they’ll have fewer classes to attend before finals.
The gist of the mod is that the time spent in University is only 8 days until final graduation instead of the 24 that it is without the mod. They have a final every other day, so they effectively skip a semester each time.
I’m having this in a separate post so that I can give myself the freedom to be as wordy as I want without feeling like the University section is overshadowing the other families in the group. That and it would be a 13th house and it makes it easier to just have this section separate. Just going to post this as is as well.
All of the eligible Sims to go to University have gone to University. So I get to juggle 5 vampires at University, though the Semester Changes mod will have their finals be at 4 am instead of 9 am, so they won’t have the mood drop as they run to the final and the mood drop shouldn’t be too drastic on the run back in. I do have 2 non-vampires so I’ll be able to see what happens with Sims who don’t get a mood freeze at night. Granted, those two have a wider set of skills going into University than their vampire dorm mates.
Also going to see if I can go based on wants and not force them to get 4.0’s. Marcelo and Bryon who need to graduate to enter their careers will be pushed just to where they would pass, but no farther unless they roll wants to do so. This will be past the first year where everyone will be pushed to do their term paper and go to class. This is to simulate college students usually getting graded on attendance for Freshman level courses and have more resources aimed at them to make sure they get good habits started.
First year most of them start off with just needing 1 skill to top out the bar or having all of the skills needed for their majors as most of them had done enough variety with skilling growing up. Only Elijah Hardy rolled a want to get on Dean’s List so he was pushed to max it through any means necessary.
Codi Allen, Loren Hardy, Marcelo Silva, Rochel Allen, and Saul Hardy all rolled wants to befriend their professors and in Sims 2, raising the relationship with the professor will increase your grade.
I got almost to the end of the first year when I realized that the season was still set to Summer. That’s been corrected. It wasn’t Fall as no one went to University in the previous round.
First year comes and goes and they all get 4.0’s.
Second year and people start needing skills they don’t have. No one’s rolling relevant wants for the most part, not even Knowledge Sim Elijah until almost the end when he rolls the Dean’s List want. Marcelo also has his progress bar maxed out and goes to class autonomously and he ends up with a 4.0 along with Elijah. So they still have 4.0 GPA’s overall. Codi manages to get a B+ bringing her overall GPA to a 3.7. Loren, Saul, and Bryon get a B, bringing their GPA to a 3.5 each. Rochel barely passes the term with a C and has a GPA of 3.0.
Third year and things shift more and some of them have to do some skilling to avoid achieving their fear of getting on academic probation. This time, Elijah does not roll the Dean’s List want nor does he roll a generic or Charisma skill want. Meaning that he does not max out his progress bar and will drop from the 4.0 status. Marcelo is also not rolling skill related wants and as it’s Mechanical he needs, nothing is breaking so that’s a killer for his GPA as well. Surprising me with her grades however is Loren. She manages to have the skills needed to max her GPA out and due to term paper a single class and befriending her other professor, Loren may reach the 4.0 needed. Everyone but Loren gets a C+. Loren gets the predicted 4.0.
Year 4 goes the same way, though this time Marcelo, Elijah, and Rochel roll a Dean’s List want. Bryon has his skills he needs for the semester and ends up getting close and he’ll likely have at least an A. All but Codi, Saul, and Loren get 4.0’s. This officially breaks my streak of all my college bound Sims getting 4.0’s. The only Sim I will likely ever push for the 4.0 are the heirs to challenge households (currently Everett 1, Pangalan 1, and Tortall 1).
Romance wise Byron and Loren pick up where they left off as teens. Marcelo and Rochel become an item. Codi falls in love with fellow YA Sim Lorene Delabert. Elijah falls for townie Lilly Do. Saul falls for townie and burglar Jessica Ebadi.
Below are just the various things I was keeping track of. The money is so that I can make sure each Sim gets their money when I move them back home.
